I was recently lucky enough to be on the team of a winning competition entry from the 2020 TRB Conference in Washington, DC. We were invited to present our project at the ATSSA Convention in New Orleans, LA. I planned to spend the weekend prior to the conference playing tourist, and reached out to a friend from school who is a NOLA local for recommendations. She did not disappoint.
With a few short days a plenty to see, I decided the best way to present all the neighborhood-organized comments she sent over was with a web map! This would enable me to follow my movement and her recommendations as I slowly ticked (read: ate) my way through the list.

I made sure to embed her comments as popups in the Fleur-de-Lis icons for each point of interest.

Feel free to copy my Mapbox style or check out the browser and mobile-friendly version hosted on my github page.
Thanks to Elena for the recommendations!
Some tourism takeaways:
The things that made the Civil Engineer in me happy…
A ate more po-boys than I care to admit.
Proof I actually attended the conference:

Thanks to the Maison for being my home between 7pm and 2am most nights of the trip! I’ll be back for more NOLA blues, jazz, and soul!
